Meindl »Island« Men's Deerskin Shorts

Description

The »Island« men's shorts by Meindl impress with their distinctive sporty style and high-quality craftsmanship from chamois-tanned deerskin. With two side pockets, generous cargo pockets, and buttoned back pockets, these shorts offer enough space for all the essentials of daily life.Chamois tanning, one of the oldest and most traditional tanning methods, uses no chemicals. Anyone who has ever worn chamois-tanned leather trousers knows the incomparably pleasant feel and the special charm of the leather. Deerskin is scarce and the chamois tanning process extremely elaborate, therefore, trousers like this are absolute rarities. No other type of leather offers the velvety soft quality of these hides.

The maple colour of these short leather trousers comes from extracts of tree bark from Central American woods, which are environmentally- and skin-friendly. This colour is applied multiple times to only the outside of the leather. The soft inside shows a light, natural colour that is the result of chamois tanning. However, the real secret lies in Meindl's method of aging the trousers, creating a natural patina that usually only develops after decades of wear.

These shorts are not just a timeless garment but also a statement of quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability.

MEINDL

Petrus Meindl was first mentioned in a document as a shoemaker in Kirchanschöring as far back as 1683. Since then, the company has been manufacturing clothing and shoes for 11 generations. For Meindl, tradition has always been more than an obligation. The company attaches great importance to quality, sustainability and craftsmanship. Meindl manages to skilfully combine tradition with innovation. The result are products for everyday life that are timeless and not subject to fashion trends. For Meindl, luxury means the way and where their products are made and which material is used. Meindl stands for individual clothing with a modern twist and living history – carrying on the leather tradition since 1683.
